Tom Gates : DogZombies Rule! by Liz Pichon

Image
I'm a big fan of the Tom Gates books  by Liz Pichon, so I thought I would review the most recent book I read: DogZombies Rule! I think it's one of the more eventful books, as something happens in it that has never happened before... Tom gets... A PET!!!!!!!( if only temporarily). That's right Tom volunteers to look after one of Mark Clumps' pets and finds out that he's taking care of Marble the hamster. On the first night  though he realises his mistake as Marble keeps him awake all night long.  Liz Pichon's drawings are really detailed and there are so many on every page that it doesn't not feel like you are reading lots of words, so is good for kids who don't like reading that much.  This book is hilariously funny and I really recommend this book to everyone, especially those who like Diary of a Wimpy Kid!   Copyright: Liz Pichon

Avery Mcshane: Greg Lyons

Avery McShane has been one of my favourite books of all time solely because everything in it could happen in real life (if you had a really exciting life!). It starts out like most books when...BAM Avery, his dog Mati and his friends Billy and Tod go to a guy called Pablo Malo's house and steal some bananas, then Tod gets shot in the butt with a shotgun full of rock salt. After that, Avery and his friends declare war on Pablo Malo, some people get kidnapped and there's quite a bit of shooting... but I don't want to get carried away and spoil the surprises for new readers. It is a really exciting book that makes you want to keep reading even when your parents tell you to turn off the lights.  The book is set in Venzuela which adds to the adventure, but i t does have quite a lot of shooting , so may be best to check if it is suitable for younger readers. I really recommend this book and if a lot of us read it, we might be able to pressure the author into writing another ...

Diary of a Wimpy Kid:The Long Haul - The Movie

Image
I know this is meant to be a book review blog but i watched this movie a few days ago so i had to do a post on this. I have watched all the previous Diary of A Wimpy Kid films, so it took some getting used to a whole new cast but I guess the original actors are all too old now! As in a lot of movies based on books they have made quite a few changes to the plot. Here are some: SPOILER ALERT! The film makers have included a funny sub plot where Greg becomes famous when a video of him goes viral. This makes Greg sneak away to a gaming convention to try and get cool again, which isn't in the book. Instead of going on a random road trip they are travelling to Gammie's 90th birthday party, which made more sense than their parents making them go on a random road trip. There are some small changes around the Beardos and the pig, but the changes were funny and at least there some surprises for the book readers in the audience. These are the changes I spotted, so try and s...
