Mythos : Stephen Fry
I am a massive myth nerd, so I was really pleased to receive a copy of Stephen Fry's 'Mythos'. It is billed as an accurate retelling of the Greek myths from creation to Prometheus giving mankind fire, to humanity being wiped out by a flood.
I really enjoyed this book as it explained different versions of myths that I wasn't very familiar with at great length. Heck, there were even a few in there that I had no idea about, like Arion and the dolphin (who knew?).
This book is written in an easy to read way, which makes the myths more fun. I have other books on the Greek myths which are bit dull as they are written like a school book and Greeks myths are anything but dull!
Mythos isn't aimed at children but it's really informative and interesting. I strongly recommend it to an reader who is into history or likes finding out about ancient cultures or has had their interest sparked by reading the Percy Jackson series.
