I'm back!

First off, I am very sorry for disappearing for a year (a year!!). Life got very busy as I was in year 6 and then started Secondary school.

My first year in Secondary school has gone so quickly and I can't believe I'm about to be a year 8.

Anyway, I am back and have some great books coming up for you. Watch this space!

I am guessing that is not going to be a popular post.... 😁 I watched the first two Lord Of The Rings movies and although I thought there were some pretty cool battle scenes (Helm's Deep), they were a bit long and some bits dragged. I had never read the books though, so, when I was given some old hardback copies, I chose them for my summer holiday reading when we went on holiday two years ago. Big mistake. Not only did the books weigh a ton and filled all my bag, but nobody warned me that they were actually really boring. In two weeks, I only managed to read a few hundred pages of the Fellowship Of The Ring and all they did was talk about stuff. There's no way I could read a whole book of that, let alone three! I had to end up buying some emergency books on my Kindle and ended up reading Plague by Michael Grant (from the Gone series) about 6 million times instead. Gone by Michael Grant

Today I am going to review “Gone” by Michael Grant. I am a big fan of the Gone series and a while back I had read almost every book in the series apart from the first one “Gone”. Crazy right? But recently I have managed to pick it up and read it so that it was I shall be reviewing today. The series starts when an unexplained event causes everyone over the age of 15 to vanish and a    20 mile diameter  dome is formed, centred around the local nuclear power plant.  All of the kids inside have to struggle to stay alive in a place where there are no longer any rules telling them what to do. This results mostly in chaos. Additionally, children have started developing mutant powers... The books centre around Sam Temple and his allies trying to survive in this strange new world and battle for control of their neighbourhood, which they call the Fallout Alley Youth Zone (FAYZ) from those who wish to dominate it whilst protecting the innocent inhabitants. Avery Mcshane: Greg Lyons

Avery McShane has been one of my favourite books of all time solely because everything in it could happen in real life (if you had a really exciting life!). It starts out like most books when...BAM Avery, his dog Mati and his friends Billy and Tod go to a guy called Pablo Malo's house and steal some bananas, then Tod gets shot in the butt with a shotgun full of rock salt. After that, Avery and his friends declare war on Pablo Malo, some people get kidnapped and there's quite a bit of shooting... but I don't want to get carried away and spoil the surprises for new readers. It is a really exciting book that makes you want to keep reading even when your parents tell you to turn off the lights.  The book is set in Venzuela which adds to the adventure, but i t does have quite a lot of shooting , so may be best to check if it is suitable for younger readers. I really recommend this book and if a lot of us read it, we might be able to pressure the author into writing another ...
