Diary of a Wimpy Kid : The Long Haul by Jeff Kinney

The Diary Of A  Wimpy Kids are a firm favourite of mine. Even though this book came out a few years ago, the movie based on this book is out now, so I thought it would be a good book to review. Greg is all set up for his summer holiday when... DUN DUN DUN... Greg's mum decides to go on a road trip. Their all ready to go with: a boat,a bunch of bags, some Spanish CD's and Flat Stanley. Along the way they learn some things such as: don't stay in a cheap motel, a microwave and a safe are not the same thing, do not send off items in a contest if you don't know what it's about, homemade sunroofs are not as good as the real thing and DO NOT FEED THE WILDLIFE!!!  copyright: Jeff Kinney They also pick up some things like: a coupon for one deep fried butter on a stick, an awesome apple pie, a retractable leash for Manny, a busted grille and A PET PIG. And to top it all off they also lose their wallets.  All Wimpy Kid books are really funny with great ...

My Top Five Beast Quest Books

Unless you have a spare few months, you might find it hard to read your way through the whole Beast Quest series. If you only read a few, these are the ones I recommend: 1) Ferno : The Fire Dragon The very first book in the Beast Quest series, it introduces the reader to the land of Avantia and it's heroes and villains. it also reveals things to the reader that they would not learn in other books, such as: tom's home village, how he met Elenna, why and how he set off on the quest in the first place and how he got his sword and shield. 2) Zepha : the monster squid   This is the 7th book in the Beast Quest series and  is set directly after the final book of season 1, Epos: The Flame Bird. It shows Tom and Elenna at a banquet at the castle of king Hugo when suddenly they are thrown into another adventure when it is discovered that THE GOLDEN ARMOUR IS MISSING!!! The golden armour provides special powers to the master of the beasts (Tom) and has been split up and is guard...

Beast Quest Series by Adam Blade

I could not write about books for boys without mentioning the behemoth that is Beast Quest.  Over 100 books, 20 series and counting. A friend of mine introduced me to these books when I was 8 and I was instantly hooked. I couldn't stop reading them, luckily the library was well stocked. The books are set in a fictional land where beasts and monsters roam and a boy called Tom is on a quest to turn the beasts from evil to good. Accompanied by a girl called Elenna, a horse and a wolf, Tom faces battle after battle. These books are exciting, gripping and well paced. They are long enough to be exciting but not so long that they bore you. From talking to boys in my class, the Beast Quest books were the reason that some of them started reading independently and persuaded some reluctant readers to start reading altogether. The Beast Quest series is aimed at younger boys and is suitable from 8 - 10 year olds. What were your thoughts on this series of books? Where they the boo...

The School Blog Project

Image
At school, we were asked to come up with a blog idea as part of our Computing class and when I went home I thought it might be fun to create a blog of my own. I knew that it had to be on a subject that I enjoyed, so that meant one of two things; books or video games. When my mum asked me which of the two I would take to a desert island, I chose books. Books are awesome! They are like having your own movie without the need for electricity or a screen. You can take them anywhere and they never run out of battery. :) In this blog, I will review books that I have read, movie adaptations of books and other related things. I hope you enjoy it!
